Modern music distribution is digital and also global in scope. Following several months of exploration for a new global distribution partner, GroundSwell Music is very excited to announce a new partnership with Believe Digital.
Believe Digital is the leading independent digital distributor and services provider for artists & labels worldwide. The company has a network of 36 offices around the world staffed with local music industry and digital marketing experts to support its clients on a global basis. The company also has a strong presence in the Canadian marketplace with offices in Montreal and Toronto.
“Last January we started exploring options for a new digital distribution partner.” said GroundSwell President, Ian McKinnon. “A meeting at East Coast Music Week last spring with Believe’s Senior Canadian label manager, Dorothée Parent-Roy, led to the deal that we are announcing today.”
Effective today, Believe Digital will take-over GroundSwell’s current catalogue of 23 full-length recordings (263 songs) and distribute the music globally through its network which includes a wide range of digital music services such as iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, and Spotify, video streaming services such as YouTube and Dailymotion, and mobile services such as Telus and Rogers.
“We’re very excited about the digital marketing capabilities of this new partnership,” added McKinnon. “Each of GroundSwell’s new releases will have the support of Believe’s local teams on the ground in each key territory worldwide. Local trade marketing teams will add key services that can leverage our artists’ local market share and properly position our releases.”
Georges Tremblay, Believe Digital Canada’s president stated, “We are very proud to be working with GroundSwell Music. They are great music people and we love the music they release. From our first meeting with them, it was clear we wanted to be their digital partner.”
The new distribution arrangement also includes physical distribution through Believe’s affiliate, DEP Distribution based in Montreal.
