GroundSwell Music has struck another deal this week, signing local folk-pop artist, The Mike Bochoff Band. The band, consisting of Mike Bochoff, Mathew Budreski and Stephen Hare, joins a roster of leading Atlantic Canadian musical artists which includes The Stanfields, Rawlins Cross, The Town Heroes, Carleton Stone and Hillsburn.
“This has been an exciting few months for GroundSwell Music,” says President Ian McKinnon. “We have been working to expand our roster and, in partnership with Codapop Recording Studios, have been aggressively ramping up our record production. Signing The Mike Bochoff Band is certainly a positive step for us. We have been huge fans of Mike’s songwriting for several years. The music that the band creates has strong commercial potential.”
The Mike Bochoff Band will be starting album pre-production in August with producer, GroundSwell Music Director of Artist Development (and Stanfields frontman), Jon Landry.
GroundSwell Music will be rolling out two highly anticipated albums in the fall from two of Halifax’s heaviest hitting rock groups, The Stanfields and The Town Heroes. Both records were recorded at Codapop in Halifax and produced by Jon Landry with Darren Van Niekerk engineering. The company recently renewed its Canadian distribution agreement with Warner Music Canada and has partnerships with labels and booking agencies in Germany, the UK and Finland. GroundSwell principal Ian McKinnon was named Manager of the Year as well as Industry Professional of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards in November.
