GroundSwell Music is a Halifax-based label and management company with a focus on East Coast Canadian artists. Led by a professional musician, we are committed to developing the international recording and performing careers for our artists.

Ian McKinnon started GroundSwell Music in 1992 as the artist management and record company for his group, Rawlins Cross. It expanded in subsequent years and forged a fruitful partnership with Warner Music Canada in 1994. Warner continues to work as GroundSwell Music’s distributor in Canada. In addition to the current roster, GroundSwell Music has executive produced other music projects including the Celtic Symphonic project MacKinnon’s Brook Suite (McKinnon with Scott Macmillan & Symphony Nova Scotia).

The company has also been building business relationships within the industry, including international live performance bookings with The Agency Group and Paquin Entertainment.
